Asean member states should cooperate in regards to developing the minerals sector in an environmentally friendly manner with a view to ensuring the sustainable development of the region. Although the minerals sector has contributed significantly to economic growth in Asean development, Asean member states should not overlook the negative impacts of mineral development on the environment, especially the pollution generated by mineral processing, Lao PDR Deputy Prime Minister said.
